The Ambulatory Care Pavilion is eight stories tall and measures 280,000 square feet. It will open for patient care later this month, officials say, with full occupancy expected in the fall.
The hospital serves as the flagship of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth), and the Ambulatory Care Pavilion will be the center’s “new focal point” for ambulatory care services.
“Westchester Medical Center has traditionally been the centerpiece for the Hudson Valley’s advanced care services. The new, state-of-the-art Ambulatory Care Pavilion sets a new standard for patient-centered services in the region and signifies the establishment of an ambulatory care hub on WMCHealth’s Valhalla campus,” said Michael D. Israel, President and CEO of WMCHealth.
The Ambulatory Care Pavilion is considered to represent a $230 million investment into the health and wellbeing of Hudson Valley residents by WMCHealth. The pavilion will feature a series of cutting edge healthcare technology and make an effort to enhance “environment of care” to reduce stress and promote healing. This includes environmental elements such as private dressing rooms, spacious common areas with plenty of natural light and a patient-controlled ambient experience with soothing lights and sounds.
In total, the Ambulatory Care Pavilion includes:
- 185,000 square feet of care space
- 75,000 square feet of medical practice and administrative office space
- 20,000 square feet of the seven-story expansion of Westchester Medical Center that will include private patient rooms (construction is still ongoing with completion anticipated later this year)
- 24 procedure rooms
- 12 imaging rooms
- 250 additional parking spaces
“The Ambulatory Care Pavilion is not just an investment in steel and glass,” said Israel, “but a true investment by Westchester Medical Center in the physical and mental health of Hudson Valley residents, putting Westchester County and the entire Hudson Valley at the forefront of healthcare delivery.”
